Unlike the rest of MAME HLSL actually uses the video card to do a lot of work. But settings are important. I would check your sync refresh setting. Usually having set to 1 is better. Also check your prescale settings in the HLSL section.
WebJan 10, 2015 · Mame 0.156 now has some pretty decent CRT and Vector emulation and gets better with every release. Check it out. I use an LCD with Mame's HLSL function with custom settings found in Mame's ini file. This reproduces better scan lines and CRT emulation games and nicer glow for vector monitor emulation.
